SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - February 10, 2009) - 3VR Security, Inc., the pioneer of searchable surveillance, announced today that Robert Allen (Al) Shipp, a veteran technology executive who was most recently vice president of the Enterprise Division at Apple Computer, has been named chief executive officer, effective immediately. Previous CEO Stephen Russell will continue as chairman.

Shipp's arrival follows several years of impressive growth in product development, customer deployments and partner relationships. As the company looks to offer new levels of innovation while continuing to establish itself as the industry standard for video surveillance, 3VR brings Shipp on board as a veteran technology executive with deep expertise in executing and managing rapid corporate growth.

"Al is simply the right guy at the right time," said Stephen Russell, former CEO and current chairman of the board at 3VR Security, Inc. "He is the exact combination of experienced technology executive and visionary leader we were looking for at this pivotal stage in the company's growth, and his joining 3VR is a tremendous vote of confidence for the company."

3VR - Impressive Early Stage Growth

3VR pioneered the first intelligent video surveillance solution, which has become a new standard for the security market, evolving from its flagship SmartRecorder product to a full family of searchable video recorders and cameras. 3VR has gained incredible validation in the security industry, forging partnerships with industry leading integrators including Diebold, Niscayah and NAVCO Systems.

Today, 3VR leads the market with the largest private facial recognition deployment in the world, the most accurate facial surveillance recognition -- tested to better than 90 percent accuracy in real world deployments -- and the industry's most sophisticated integrated video management system overall. 3VR has secured more than 600 customers and is poised to enter a new phase of growth, expansion and sales.

Al Shipp - World-Class Leadership

Shipp joins 3VR from Apple, where he built a world-class sales and marketing group, tripling business in 18 months. Under Shipp's leadership, Apple's Enterprise Division quickly became one of its most profitable business units. His extensive executive experience at the company also included hands-on responsibility for worldwide support and the formation of key industry partnerships.

Prior to Apple, Shipp served as president of Critical Path, Inc., senior vice president at Inktomi Corporation, and as president of the eCommerce Server and Worldwide Sales Divisions at BEA Systems.

"I've been a friend of Steve's and a fan of 3VR for some time," said Al Shipp, CEO at 3VR Security, Inc. "But after having a chance to look under the hood, I was even more impressed. 3VR is a 'can't fail' business with incredible upside potential. I look forward to working with 3VR's exceptionally talented team to take the company to the next level in terms of global reach, influence and leadership in the security industry."
