Wardlaw Claims Assures Network Availability and Transparency With Enterasys
Leading National Insurance Claims Adjuster Reduces Costs, Increases Security and Improves Service Quality
| Source: Enterasys
ANDOVER, MA--(Marketwire - February 17, 2009) - Enterasys Networks Inc., the Secure Networks
Company™, today announced that Wardlaw Claims Service has selected
Enterasys solutions for the secure connection of both wired and wireless
devices serving more than 200 full-time adjusters, over 700 remote workers
and its annual training conferences for nearly 400 attendees. Two full-time
Wardlaw network operations staff maintain this enhanced network thanks to
Enterasys' NetSight® easy-to-use, granular management software.
Wardlaw Claims provides independent insurance adjusting services for auto,
property and commercial insurance carriers. The company also provides
training and licensing courses for adjusters in an ongoing classroom
environment at the Wardlaw Training Campus in Waco, TX, and through its
annual National Adjuster Conference. With more than 2,500 independent
adjusters nationwide and full-time staff of back-office employees in Waco,
Wardlaw required network upgrades to support both wired and wireless
access, but also wanted to leverage investment in existing infrastructure.
"We had previously implemented an exclusively Cisco network, which was
proving to be a cumbersome and costly situation that required 60% of our
staff's time to maintain," said Jeff Keahey, CIO of Wardlaw Claims.
"Enterasys offers us cost-effective, simple-to-manage network connectivity
that requires less than 5% of our time to maintain; while also delivering
interoperability with our existing Cisco equipment. The Enterasys solutions
allowed us to meet our goals of network availability and security without
placing any burden of additional agents or different logon procedures on
our end-users."
Today, Enterasys' Matrix® N-Series flow-based switches serve as the
Wardlaw network's core, securely connecting users to applications and data
such as the company's human resources programs and adjuster educational
materials. Enterasys SecureStack™ C-Series stackable switches deliver
L2/L3/L4 classification, bandwidth flow control and traffic prioritization
to support IP telephony (VoIP) and IP Multicast (IPMC) voice/video/data
convergence applications. The policy-based wireless LAN connectivity
enables high-performance mobile computing from any location without
compromising the confidentiality, integrity or availability of information;
and Enterasys XSR® Security Routers deliver seamless VPN interoperability
with all major operating systems' embedded VPN clients.
Keahey and two IT support personnel are able to easily manage the entire
network, and have noticed a significant decrease in user complaints.
Security events such as virus attacks or unauthorized network use have
disappeared entirely. Training courses with hundreds of people in a
classroom all using different wireless gear have had no issues.
"Because of the nature of the services we offer, large numbers of guest
users require access to our network at any given time. Prior to Enterasys,
we experienced multiple problems with viruses due to our guest access,"
Keahey noted. "Today, we can focus on our business rather than worrying
about whether our remote workers can log in to the VPN. We have found
Enterasys support extremely responsive and know they can help us within
minutes 24 hours a day. We don't worry about the network anymore and our
people can go home on time because there are no more fires to fight."
"I didn't know Enterasys a year ago," concluded Keahey. "What they have
proven to me is that they can deliver personalized attention to design and
deploy a manageable and reliable secure networking solution at half the
cost of Cisco, while enabling our remote workers to connect transparently
without any hassles."
