SOMERSET, NJ--(Marketwire - February 23, 2009) -
WHO: Reginald P. Best, COO of AEP Networks, developers of
high-performance, cost effective secure networking and
identity-based access solutions
WHAT: Will present a session on Network and Identity-Based Access
Control titled "NAC: Is It Dead Yet?"
WHEN: At the Secure IT 2009 Conference, which will be held
Wednesday, March 4 through Friday, March 6, 2009
"NAC: Is It Dead Yet?" will take place on
Friday, March 6 at 10:45 a.m.
WHERE: Sheraton Gateway Hotel Los Angeles
6101 West Century Boulevard
Los Angeles, Calif.
DETAILS: When Network Access Control (NAC) hit the security scene, it was
billed as a breakthrough in network security. It seemed so
easy -- simply make sure laptop software and virus protection
are up-to-date before letting mobile devices back onto the
network. In practice, it is not that simple; plus, NAC doesn't
protect networks from malicious users whose laptops are clean as
a whistle. NAC is dead, or at least dying, and a new security
model is already rising from NAC's ashes. Identity-Based Access
Control (IBAC) adds 'identity' into the mix and restricts certain
users from accessing entire portions of the network. IBAC is
promising to take care of insider threats, not just dirty laptops.
In this session, Reginald Best will discuss why NAC hasn't taken
off as expected; compare and contrast NAC and IBAC; and weigh the
pros and cons of IBAC.
