AT&T and Avaya Launch New Fixed Mobile Convergence Package for Business Users

New Offer Provides Greater Mobility, Flexibility and Cost Control

BASKING RIDGE, NJ--(Marketwire - March 3, 2009) - Businesses and organizations can now gain more control over mobile communication costs while providing workers with greater flexibility with a new offer from AT&T* and Avaya. A new version of AT&T Mobile Extension combines Avaya's unified communications technologies with AT&T's qualified voice services and compatible wireless devices in a packaged solution with predictable monthly costs.

This latest enhancement to AT&T Mobile Extension is designed for companies using Avaya Communication Manager IP Telephony on premises to extend corporate calling features. AT&T Mobile Extension supports the industry's leading mobile device platforms: iPhone, BlackBerry® and Windows Mobile®. The package includes Avaya one-X® Mobile, an easy-to-use downloadable interface that transforms the wireless device into an extension of the corporate network. The package also includes a qualified wireless voice plan, a compatible wireless device and an add-on wireless feature offering 500 additional Mobile Extension minutes to be used for fixed mobile convergence calling between the Avaya system and the enabled wireless device.

"Fixed mobile convergence technologies are rapidly maturing to enable companies to better integrate their wireline and wireless communications infrastructure," said Carrie MacGillivray, senior research analyst, IDC. "Enterprises are looking to a provider that can provide the ability to enable accessibility at all times with multiple devices, providing employees with the ability to stay connected no matter their location."

Key features of the joint Avaya and AT&T Mobile Extension solution include:

-- Common set of features for users while in the office and while mobile.
-- Single number to reach both office and/or cellular phone
-- Single voice mail covering both wireless and desk phones
-- Designated minutes for AT&T Mobile Extension calls
-- International calls placed in the U.S. from mobile devices are routed
through corporate network to help reduce costs

"AT&T Mobile Extension includes elements of both fixed and wireless communications, which offers corporate end-users a consistent set of features and a seamless communications experience," said Chris Hill, vice-president mobility product management, AT&T Business Solutions. "We are taking the next step with fixed mobile convergence by offering virtually anywhere, anytime access to enterprise solutions and applications, and are pleased to now offer this solution to Avaya customers."

"Avaya one-X Mobile provides employees with secure access to business calls and calling features, in addition to greater control from both the user and company perspective, " said David Stearns, general manager, AT&T account, Avaya. "When combined with AT&T's wireless voice services and some of the most popular mobile business devices on the market, AT&T Mobile Extension makes tremendous business sense."

In addition to the benefits listed, Avaya one-X Mobile provides a number of features that increase business user productivity and control over managing their time and availability, including:

-- Visually view voice messages and select which ones to play immediately
from the device without dialing into the corporate voice mail platform.
-- Search the corporate directory, personal phonebook, and access call
logs and remotely initiate the call or callback through the corporate
extension while keeping their personal mobile number private
