BridgeWays Launches Broad Product Line to Extend Microsoft Systems Center Support of Cross-Platform Applications Monitoring

New Xandros BridgeWays Management Packs for System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 Enable Single-Console Administration of Business Critical Applications on Windows, Linux, and Unix

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - April 28, 2009) - Microsoft Management Summit - BridgeWays, a division of Xandros, today launched an initial set of application management packs in the extensive BridgeWays product line that enables system administrators to manage business critical applications on Windows, Linux, and Unix from a single console. The new line of management packs helps extend Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 to additional business applications on Windows and to the 85% of enterprise data centers with cross-platform environments.

An initial management pack released today extends System Center capabilities to the management of VMware ESX/ESXi. Management packs for Oracle Database, MySQL Database, and JBoss Application Server running on Red Hat Enterprise Server, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, Solaris, and Windows, will be released in conjunction with the general availability of the System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2. An Apache web server management pack for Red Hat, SUSE and Solaris will also be released at that time. The product line, which will continue to expand, was developed under the broad technology and business collaboration agreement between Microsoft and Xandros.

"Customer IT environments are often times comprised of a complex software and hardware mix and System Center delivers broad management capabilities across the heterogeneous physical and virtual enterprise to address these," said Larry Orecklin, General Manager, System Center Marketing, Management and Services Division, Microsoft. "Our work with companies, such as Xandros with their knowledge of open source software, commercial LOB applications, and virtualization, expands our System Center Operations Manager R2 cross platform capabilities and management benefits deeper into the datacenter. The result is that customers can leverage their existing knowledge of the System Center suite to manage across their enterprise, in turn lowering complexity and costs."

"Our clients are looking at technology differently, with an eye on cost and efficiency. BridgeWays provides an opportunity for organizations to enhance the efficiency of IT operations and lower their operating costs," said Doug Miller, Microsoft Practice Architect at CDW. "The increasing number of control systems in data centers, each with its separate console, monitoring techniques, and operator controls, has been a growing source of pain over the years for nearly everyone. BridgeWays brings a welcome change of simplified management and lower costs across a variety of technologies in the data center."

"This is the first installment of the extensive capabilities we are bringing to System Center Operations Manager to help organizations reduce costs and enhance efficiency during these stressful financial times. We are very excited to roll out our new BridgeWays line that will give system administrators centralized control of key enterprise applications on Windows, Linux, and Unix," said Andreas Typaldos, CEO of Xandros. "Thanks to the cross platform monitoring capabilities in the new System Center Operations Manager, we are able to quickly go to market with these vital administrative tools, tailored to our knowledge of real-world customer experiences."
