SXC Health Solutions Transforms Interactions With Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Using Sterling Business Integration Suite

Technology-Enabled Pharmacy Benefit Management Provider Purchases Sterling File Gateway and Sterling Control Center to Take Its Business to the Next Level

SAN ANTONIO, TX--(Marketwire - April 28, 2009) - Sterling Commerce Customer Connection - Sterling Commerce, an AT&T Inc (NYSE: T) company, today announced that SXC Health Solutions Corp. (SXC), a leading provider of pharmacy benefit management (PBM) services and healthcare information technology solutions in North America, has implemented Sterling Business Integration Suite to create a center of data exchange for its interaction with all aspects of the pharmaceutical supply chain. The Suite has enabled SXC to optimize its file and data management operations, enhance internal communications, and improve its ability to comply with current and future HIPAA guidelines.

"In 2007, we identified file movement as one of our top five challenges, and put a strategic plan in place by partnering with Sterling Commerce to solve that challenge," said Jon Hyosaka, CIO at SXC. "As we become a leader in the pharmacy benefits management space, we recognize the need to enhance our data exchange process and ensure the highest level of security, reliability, and most importantly, manageability."

One out of every four prescription claims processed in the U.S. is adjudicated using SXC's RxCLAIM software. Recently, the company expanded its capabilities to include a full suite of pharmacy benefit management services and experienced approximately tenfold revenue growth. This transition also added millions of new covered lives, increasing SXC's requirements to provide patients, physicians and pharmacists with the information necessary to serve the various organizations in the pharmaceutical supply chain.

"As companies look for ways to compete in this tough economy, SXC Health Solutions is a powerful example of the role technology can play in that transformation," said Geoff Baird, global vice president, Managed File Transfer, at Sterling Commerce. "The company's vision to break down traditional silos of internal and external file management ensured reliability and performance of these mission-critical operations in the face of dramatic growth, both in file volumes but also in the number of connections through which those files are shared."

Sterling Business Integration Suite is a comprehensive suite of industry-leading integration solutions that provides a holistic approach to integrating business processes inside and outside the enterprise. The Suite enables SXC to improve operational efficiency by seamlessly automating its business processes for exchanging and completing transactions among its customers and partners. SXC has implemented the following components of the Suite:

-- Connect:Direct, the market-leading solution for managing file transfers of any size, volume or format;

-- Sterling Integrator, a development and integration platform for B2B collaboration; and

-- Sterling Secure Proxy, an application proxy that protects a company's file transfers from the public Internet.

SXC has recently purchased Sterling File Gateway, to consolidate B2B file transfer activity, and Sterling Control Center, which provides real-time visibility and control and exception management. Together, these solutions will enable SXC to take its file management environment to the next level by managing its batch and B2B processes as one, therefore improving business performance and providing visibility into actionable information across SXC's key business processes.

SXC is one of the first customers to implement Sterling File Gateway, an enhancement to Sterling Business Integration Suite that was announced today.
