WICHITA, KS--(Marketwire - June 3, 2009) - Flint Hills Resources, LP
(www.kochind.com/IndustryAreas/refining.aspx), which currently distributes
fuels via terminals in Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Bastrop, Austin, Fort
Worth and Waco, will build a new fuel terminal in Caldwell County to serve
Central Texas.
"This new terminal will begin operating in 2010. The strategic location of
this terminal will allow us and our customers to more efficiently serve the
growing Central Texas corridor," said Brad Urban, senior vice president.
"Census data has shown about 400,000 people moved to the Austin/San Antonio
area in the last five years. This growth, which we expect to continue, is
driving increased fuel demand."
The new terminal will include storage tanks and a four-bay truck-loading
facility on property that provides access to the company's proprietary
refined products pipeline. The terminal's footprint will cover less than 15
acres of the Caldwell County property. The site is near Texas Highway 130,
between U.S. Highways 183 and 21, and offers efficient access for
transporting fuels in Central Texas.
"We have been meeting with local, school, county and state officials about
our plans," Urban said. "We are committed to operating safely and in an
environmentally responsible manner in this growing industrialized area. We
will also upgrade highway intersections near the terminal."
All local and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality permits have been
finalized.
