ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwire - June 18, 2009) - During the business luncheon of the Insurance
Accounting & Systems Association (IASA) held today during the 2009 IASA
Annual Educational Conference & Business Show members elected James Keal of
Accident Fund Insurance Company of America (Accident Fund) and United
Heartland as president of the association for the 2009-2010 fiscal year.
"Jim Keal brings a great deal of industry experience to bear as IASA
President," said Joe Pomilia, IASA Executive Director. "The energetic
approach to industry issues and association initiatives he has demonstrated
in the past was part of the reason he has risen to this level. Everyone at
IASA is looking forward to working closely with Jim during the coming
year."
Keal joined United Heartland from Houston Casualty Company in 2006 and his
role was expanded to include accounting operations for United Heartland and
Accident Fund in 2007. He currently serves as vice president of finance
for both companies. Keal has extensive insurance industry experience. He
has held senior leadership positions at ACUITY Insurance Company and SECURA
Insurance, as well as Coopers & Lybrand. In addition, he has held various
management team positions during the time he has volunteered for IASA and
he has been heavily involved in IASA's local chapters, most notably serving
as president of IASA's Wisconsin Chapter.
"The key to finding value in these challenging times is identifying the
levers that help us succeed and break boundaries," said Keal. "The IASA
provides its members an array of levers to make informed technical and
business decisions. As IASA President, I am very much looking forward to
helping move the association's efforts and initiatives forward and helping
our member companies continue grow and prosper."
Keal holds a B.S. degree in Economics and a M.B.A, both from the University
of Wisconsin-Madison. He holds a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
designation, and is also a member of the Wisconsin Institute of Certified
Public Accountants.
