Coleman(R) High-Efficiency Home Comfort Products Are Eligible for Tax Credits

NORMAN, OK--(Marketwire - July 1, 2009) - Coleman® Heating and Air Conditioning provides a complete line of home comfort products that meet the high-efficiency requirements of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). Signed into law in February, ARRA combines spending and federal tax credits to move the economy forward by investing in infrastructure and increasing the energy efficiency of residential and commercial buildings in America.

Homeowners who purchase qualifying high-efficiency heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) products in their primary residences can take advantage of increased tax credits -- as much as 30 percent of the installed cost of improvements made from Jan. 1, 2009, through Dec. 31, 2010, up to a total of $1,500.

What products qualify for the tax credit?

-- A natural gas, propane or oil furnace rated at 95 percent annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE) or higher

-- Any furnace equipped with an advanced main air circulating fan that uses no more than 2 percent of the total furnace energy use

-- A central air conditioner that achieves a 16 seasonal energy efficiency ratio (SEER) or higher, 13 energy efficiency ratio (EER) or higher rating

-- An electric air source heat pump that achieves 15 SEER or higher, 12.5 EER or higher, 8.5 heating seasonal performance factor (HSPF) or higher rating.

How do homeowners apply for tax credits?

Coleman offers a downloadable Federal Tax Credit Certificate that lists all Coleman residential gas furnaces, air handlers, air conditioners and heat pumps that are eligible for tax credits.

Homeowners should keep the certificate, copies of invoices and receipts to document their expenditures. However, they only need to file Form 5695 with their tax returns to get the tax credits.

Where can homeowners get additional information about tax credits?

-- American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy

-- Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI)

-- Consortium for Energy Efficiency

-- Energy Star

-- Tax Incentives Assistance Project

QUOTES

Attributable to Brian Michael, Coleman brand manager, Johnson Controls

-- "All Coleman 33-inch condensing furnace models exceed the minimum 95 percent AFUE requirements for these tax credits in 2009. In addition, 12 different Coleman gas-fired residential furnace models achieve 97 to 98 percent AFUE, making them the most efficient in the industry. For split-system air conditioners and heat pumps, the expansion of the Coleman LX series and Echelon series provides more models at higher efficiency levels than ever before."

-- "When the federal tax credits are combined with Coleman's industry-leading consumer rebate program -- which offers up to $1,700 cash back, 6-months same-as-cash financing options -- competitive warranties, reduced energy bills, improved comfort and any applicable local utility rebates, homeowners experience considerable savings by choosing eligible Coleman products for their new construction or renovation projects."
