FCStone Carbon Signs Two Rivers Cooperative as First Carbon Integrated Risk Management Program (IRMP) Client

Innovative System for Tracking Opportunities and Risks in Carbon Management Now Available for Agriculture and Energy Clients

DES MOINES, Iowa, July 13, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- FCStone Carbon today announced that Two Rivers Cooperative of Pella, Iowa is the first elevator to sign up for its Carbon Integrated Risk Management Program (IRMP), and the first to complete a carbon footprint of its operations. The Carbon IRMP is a comprehensive program that includes assessing the carbon footprint of the client's operation, building a client carbon action plan, recommending strategies for reducing emissions and being accountable for the progress of the action plan.

"Understanding where you stand compared to the industry baseline will become increasingly important as we move forward with the current proposed legislation," says Tracy Gathman, General Manager of Two Rivers Cooperative. "The carbon footprint has also identified potential annual energy savings of approximately $6,000. These savings are immediately available and require no investment on the part of our cooperative."

At a time when legislation on Greenhouse Gas Emissions continues to move forward at a rapid pace and companies are becoming more aware of their environmental impact, FCStone Carbon, LLC is developing systems and programs designed to help manage risks and/or take advantage of opportunities that will impact its customers in agriculture and renewable energy.

Increased consumption of fossil fuels, combined with factors such as soil tillage and the use of nitrogen fertilizer, all contribute to higher levels of harmful greenhouse gas emissions. Better management of atmospheric carbon, nitrous oxide and methane are critical elements of reducing climate variability.

FCStone Carbon, LLC was founded in February 2006, as a wholly owned subsidiary of FCStone Group, Inc., an integrated commodity risk management company providing risk management consulting and transaction execution services to commercial commodity intermediaries, end users and producers.
