Pahokee Middle/High School Dedicates the Anquan Boldin Stadium, Home of the Blue Devils

Three-Time Pro Bowl Wide Receiver Anquan Boldin Honored With a Stadium in His Name and the "Distinguished Service" and "Key To The City" Awards for His Generosity and Positive Leadership in the Pahokee Community

PAHOKEE, Fla., July 22, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Anquan Boldin, native of Pahokee, Florida (Palm Beach County) and among the National Football League's top wide receivers, has been given several accolades for his outstanding contributions to his hometown community. The new stadium currently in development in Pahokee is set to be named the Anquan Boldin Stadium, which was voted on and determined by the School Advisory Committee. This August, the stadium is scheduled to be complete with state-of-the-art equipment and technology and will be the new home to the Pahokee Middle/High School football, soccer, track and flag football games. There will be an unveiling of the Anquan Boldin Stadium name prior to the launch date.

"The School Advisory Committee wanted to name the Stadium after someone who is of good character and a great contributor to the community and to the school," says Michael Aronson, Assistant Principal of Pahokee Middle/High School. "Anquan is someone who exemplifies success in leadership and in his career, and he is a positive role model to our kids."

This past April, the city of Pahokee presented Anquan with the "Distinguished Service" award on behalf of the Pahokee Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, Anquan was honored with the "Key to the City" award presented by Mayor Wayne Whitaker. This award was granted due to Anquan's generosity to hundreds of children and teens in the Pahokee community, providing support for the various after-school programs, providing shoes, equipment, helmets or whatever the need to the Pahokee Football teams, and for showing his appreciation to all the Central and South Florida when holding his annual Q-Fest Weekend Celebration that takes place every April.

"On behalf of the mayor, city commissioners, and the Pahokee Chamber, we proudly express our gratitude for Anquan Boldin," says Alice Thompson from the Pahokee Chamber of Commerce. "Anquan is one of Pahokee's favorite sons. His character and athletic prowess is unquestionable."
