FRISCO, TX--(Marketwire - July 29, 2009) - Today, EADS Secure Networks North America
announced full system acceptance of its CORP25 digital, trunked land mobile
radio system by Cumberland County, Tennessee, validating the delivered
Project 25 (P25)-based public safety radio network fulfills the county's
operational requirements.
"System acceptance by Cumberland County marks a great milestone in EADS
commitment to helping public safety operations of every size adopt and
embrace the P25 standard," said Steve Shanck, Executive Vice President &
General Manager, EADS Secure Networks North America. "The coordination and
continued collaboration of county officials and suppliers has resulted in
true, interoperable communications between first responders in this region,
and Cumberland County will serve as a leading model in future deployments
of EADS CORP25 solution."
Selected to replace the county's aging conventional analog radio system,
the CORP25 system optimizes coverage across the county, including the
remote area's varied terrain. CORP25 provides an open, standards-compliant
digital, trunked radio system with interoperability to existing
conventional VHF radio networks and dispatch systems. The new network
enables clear, expanded and coordinated communications amongst its users,
including the sheriff's department, two fire departments, the rescue squad,
local correctional facility, emergency medical services and emergency
management.
"This achievement is the result of unprecedented collaboration between
local officials, county-appointment consultants, Kenwood USA and the EADS
team," said Mayor Brock Hill. "On behalf of the people of Cumberland
County, I thank everyone who has worked so tirelessly to bring
open-standards, fully interoperable public safety communications to our
region."
"Incorporating the legacy VHF Conventional network, the multi-vendor
product integration, and the unique coverage issues of Cumberland County
were all significant challenges for EADS, as they would have been for any
systems integrator," said Bruce Rhoades, Director of Public Safety &
Municipal Networks for WATERFORD Consultants. "My hat's off to EADS, as
they addressed all of these challenges and demonstrated a phenomenal
commitment to the ultimate satisfaction of the County."
As an IP-based, open-standards (APCO P25) digital trunked solution, CORP25
allows P25 and non-P25 radios to operate together on one core architecture,
providing operators full autonomy and control over the radio network.
