| Source: IEC Electronics
NEWARK, NY--(Marketwire - August 6, 2009) - IEC Electronics Corp (NYSE Amex : IEC ), announced
today it has achieved the prestigious ISO13485 certification. This
certification applies to its electronic manufacturing services (EMS)
operation in Newark, NY as well as its wire and cable operation in Victor,
NY.
ISO13485 is the quality management system (QMS) standard specific to the
medical device industry. The requirements emphasize critical areas
impacting process, quality and manufacturing reliability for medical device
products. It is designed to enforce complicated and strict manufacturing
control principals unique to the medical device industry and includes
several additional requirements to ISO 9001. This certification, an
internationally recognized management system standard developed by the
International Organization for Standardization (ISO), is a requirement for
the ongoing manufacturing of commercial medical devices.
According to W. Barry Gilbert, CEO and Chairman of the Board, "ISO13485 has
become the standard to which medical device suppliers are measured to drive
quality and on-time delivery within the supply chain. The addition of
ISO13485 complements our existing AS9100 quality system and reinforces
IEC's commitment to the medical device market. Clearly, this certification
represents an important milestone which further supports our company's
vision to be Absolutely, Positively, Perfect and On-time(SM)."
