BNP Paribas Corporate and Investment Banking Creates Insurance Solutions Group for the Americas

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - August 10, 2009) - BNP Paribas Corporate and Investment Banking is pleased to announce the creation of the Insurance Solutions Group for the Americas. Francois Leblanc, formerly head of global risk solutions and structured capital markets for the Americas, will head the new group. Also joining the group is Josee Deroy, who has been appointed a Director. She will be based in New York and report to Francois.

Josee joins BNP Paribas from HSBC in New York, where she spent two years developing tailored solutions for life insurance companies in relation to specific regulatory reserves & capital requirements. Prior to that, Josee was with BNP Paribas in the Insurance and Pensions team. An Actuary by training, Josee also spent time as a VP Reinsurance Solutions at Swiss Re and Axa Re in New York and as Chief Actuary & Risk Officer at Nationwide Global in Luxembourg. She also held prior positions in pension consulting and insurance while working in Canada and France.

Commenting on the new group and Josee's appointment, Francois Leblanc said, "Josee will be instrumental in establishing dialogues with senior level executives at large US and Canadian insurance companies, which traditionally have complex asset/liability and capital optimization needs. By identifying their strategic needs and addressing them with our specialized teams, we believe BNP Paribas can provide a dedicated Fixed Income solution-based approach and be the bank of choice for implementing fully integrated solutions."
