TeamDynamixHE PPM to Serve as Foundation of IT Governance Structure for The John Marshall Law School

Historic Law School Selects TeamDynamixHE for Ease of Use and Focus on Meeting the Priorities of Higher Education Institutions

COLUMBUS, OH--(Marketwire - August 11, 2009) - TeamDynamixHE, the leading provider of Web-based project and portfolio management solutions for the higher education market, today announced that The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Ill. has deployed the company's PPM solution to serve as the foundation of the school's new IT governance structure. TeamDynamixHE is currently being deployed across the school's IT department, providing a central location for the IT staff to manage and track all projects and evaluate and allocate resources.

Prior to deploying TeamDynamixHE, The John Marshall Law School's IT staff employed Excel spreadsheets, MS Project and MS Exchange for project and portfolio management. Frustrated by the lack of communication, awareness and oversight on projects, and the uncertainties of which resources were working on what projects, James Velco, chief technology officer for the school, initiated a search for a highly customizable PPM solution that offered a low learning curve and good reporting tools.

Velco commented, "Formal project management is becoming a standard in higher education, and TeamDynamixHE is tailored to fit and scale to meet the needs of higher education institutions, which have different priorities than those found in the corporate environment. TeamDynamixHE's Web interface is easily customized to meet our organization's structure, allowing our team to understand the PPM concepts and get up and running on the solution quickly."

Velco is also working with the school's administration to develop a new IT governance structure and TeamDynamixHE will help provide transparency for more strategic project decision-making. The Web-based solution offers advanced planning and tracking functionality that will help the IT department improve organizational efficiencies, prioritize tasks, improve project workflow and accountability, and facilitate team collaboration. Each IT team member has access to a customizable personal dashboard, which provides a graphical display of personal daily responsibilities (tasks) and current issues.

Velco added, "I am very happy with this software because using it will mean that project management is no longer the sole responsibility of the CTO. The team members in IT can now take charge and directly manage projects, while the CTO has oversight. This software is a great tool that allows me to stay in tune with the various projects as they progress."

"As we work with higher education institutions, the need for greater transparency across IT in order to deliver more effective project and portfolio planning continues to be the major driver for implementing a better PPM solution, particularly as financial resources have declined," said Andrew Graf, lead analyst for TeamDynamixHE. "In addition, no matter what they say and how they market their products, corporate PPM solutions are not higher education PPM solutions. It is clear to schools like The John Marshall Law School that the focus and priorities of the corporate environment do not translate directly to a university or college setting. In PPM, one size does not fit all."
