Granite Hill Estates to Hold First Annual Big Band Bash

Free and Open to the Public, the Bash Features the Music of the Al Corey Orchestra

HALLOWELL, ME--(Marketwire - August 11, 2009) - Granite Hill Estates (GHE), the Kennebec Valley's premier continuing care retirement community, will conduct its First Annual Big Band Bash on Friday, August 28, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. The rain date is August 29.

"We're having so much fun at Granite Hill Estates that we'd like the community to join us," said Jennifer Fleck, GHE's Executive Director. "We don't want to be Hallowell's best-kept secret. So, on a beautiful Friday night in mid-summer, we're going to set up a dance floor under the stars. We're going to serve hors d'oeuvres while we munch and mingle. Then we're going to dance the night away to the classic big-band sounds of Maine's own Al Corey Orchestra. That's fun for everyone."

The Al Corey Orchestra has been entertaining Central Maine for more than 50 years with the music that was popularized in the 1940s. For more than 20 consecutive years, they showcased the Governor's Ball, playing the tunes of the Glenn Miller and Count Basie Orchestras. Their repertoire includes such tunes as "One O'clock Jump", "Moonlight Serenade", and "In the Mood".

To get to Granite Hill Estates, take exit 109 from the south or 109B from the north off I-95 (Winthrop). Head west on Route 202. Take a left onto Edison Drive. GHE is on the right.
