"Beautiful Places": Sales Begin for South Carolina State Park Photography Book

COLUMBIA, SC--(Marketwire - August 11, 2009) - Sales have begun for "Beautiful Places: The
Timeless Beauty of South Carolina State Parks," available at

The 140-page hardcover coffee table South Carolina
photography book contains more than 100 vivid color images from the 47
South Carolina State Parks
managed by the S.C. State Park Service and was produced as part of the
parks' celebration of 75 years of providing recreational opportunities in
the South Carolina outdoors
and stewardship and conservation of the Palmetto State's natural and
cultural assets.
National Geographic Quality Photographer jon o. holloway
The book features the photography of jon o. holloway of Greenwood, South
Carolina, a nationally known photographer whose work has appeared in such
venues as National Geographic. He spent a year on the project, capturing
the South Carolina State Parks
through the seasons.
Chad Prosser, director of the SC Department of Parks, Recreation &
Tourism, is the book's author. Cal Harrison, a freelance writer and
Columbia, South Carolina native who now lives in Ridgeway, South Carolina
researched and wrote the section on the park system's history, which
includes a number of vintage images. Public broadcast nature host and
Adjunct Faculty, University of South Carolina, School of the Environment,
Rudy Mancke wrote the foreword.
Financial support for the book was provided by FUJIFILM Manufacturing
U.S.A., Inc. of Greenwood, South Carolina and BMW Manufacturing Co. in
Spartanburg County, South Carolina.
"Beautiful Places" is being sold online and will be available in bookstores
Sept. 1. The Web site is at www.beautifulplacesalliance.org. The Beautiful Places
Alliance was created to help fund improvements and programs at the
South Carolina State Parks and will be the recipient of all proceeds from
the book's sales.
