MMX Ceases to Be a Reporting Issuer in Canada

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL--(Marketwire - August 24, 2009) - MMX Mineração e Metálicos S.A.
("MMX") (BOVESPA: MMXM3), further to the Public Announcement published on
July 24, 2009, hereby informs its shareholders and the market in general
that its application submitted to the Ontario Securities Commission ("OSC")
for a decision, regarding ceasing to be a reporting issuer in Canada, has
been accepted on August 21, 2009.
MMX ceases to be a reporting issuer in Canada, but retains full obligation
and responsibility of disclosure requirements established under the
Brazilian Corporation Law and the regulations of the Brazilian Securities
Commission (the Comissão de Valores Mobiliários or "CVM"), as well as the
highest corporate governance standards that, it is submitted, by the
special corporate governance segment of the Bovespa (the "Novo Mercado") on
which MMX is listed.
