PCS Edventures Announces Robotic Microcontroller Success
| Source: PCS Edventures!.com, Inc.
BOISE, ID--(Marketwire - August 25, 2009) - PCS Edventures!.com (OTCBB : PCSV ) today announced
that The Brain, its proprietary robotic micro-controller, has been
successfully deployed in hundreds of sites throughout the United States and
worldwide including Singapore, Thailand, Korea, Saudi Arabia, the
Netherlands, and Germany. Following a soft launch this spring, combined
sales from distribution partners and in-house sales are now approaching
2,000 units. Distribution partners have found The Brain and the PCS
progressive programming environment, The Cortex, to fill a strong need in
the educational robotics marketplace. The worldwide robotics industry is a
$24.9 Billion marketplace, with the service and personal robotics market
making up nearly 70% of that number.
The Brain was designed to provide flexibility through a number of built-in
hooks for attaching the controller securely to a variety of systems
including fischertechnik®, LEGO®, K'NEX®, and industry standard
hobbyist materials such as those seen in radio control devices. The goal
of The Brain design team was to provide end users with a comprehensive and
flexible system that works with industry standard materials in a variety of
environments including the K-12 and University classroom as well as the
hobbyist workshop. This approach sets The Brain and The Cortex apart from
all other competitors in the field of educational robotics.
David Chase, one of the lead developers on The Brain design team, said,
"We've been working with robotics in education for over two decades, and
regardless of the system we were working with, there was always something
lacking, and our students were always wanting to integrate their robots
with other materials. We heard this same feedback from so many customers
that it became evident there was significant market need for it. The Brain
and The Cortex were designed to encourage interoperability and creativity
with no limits."
Tony Maher, President and CEO, said, "Looking forward we see robotics in
education to be a significant driver in our educational sales strategies.
There is no doubt that the worldwide acceptance of robotics in the
classroom is now passing from the early adopter stage to something more
significant, and our 20 years of experience in this area positions us
nicely to take advantage of this expanding market. Our initial launch
numbers have been good and we see order frequency and size increasing
rapidly."
