Summary
DHL's markets are still hard hit by the recession; however, both demand and
prices are beginning to find a stable level. The group produced revenue of just
under DKK 1.9 billion in the first half of 2009, down by 33% on the
corresponding period of last year. Despite continued tight cost control, EBIT
(earnings before interest and taxes) for the first half of 2009 was a loss of
DKK 27 million compared with a profit of DKK 32 million in the comparative
period of 2008. Significant inventory reductions in the first six months of the
financial year improved DLH's balance sheet total and ensured significant cash
inflow.
