EnerNOC Demand Response Enhances Reliability of North America's Electric Power Grid

Company Delivers Over 100% Average Performance in More Than 90 Demand Response Events Year to Date

BOSTON, Aug. 26, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- EnerNOC, Inc. (Nasdaq:ENOC), a leading provider of clean and intelligent energy solutions, announced today that it has successfully managed over 90 demand response events year to date, yielding an average performance of approximately 103 percent, based on nominated versus delivered capacity. EnerNOC's diverse demand response network comprises over 5,450 commercial, institutional, and industrial customer sites throughout North America.

"EnerNOC's demand response resource has consistently delivered," said Billie McWinn, Idaho Power's commercial demand response program specialist. "EnerNOC's PowerTrak technology gives us real-time visibility into demand response event performance, allowing our system operators and customers alike a common view of the results. We have called upon EnerNOC's demand response resources seven times since early July alone, and they have delivered over 100 percent on average."

"Utilities across North America have embraced demand response as a critical resource for fulfilling their mandate to provide clean, reliable, and fairly priced power," said Tim Healy, EnerNOC's chairman and CEO. "Our strong performance in 2009 continues to demonstrate the versatility and scalability of our demand response network, both for meeting capacity needs and for delivering ancillary services in a clean, dynamic, and dispatchable manner that we believe will become more important moving forward, particularly as wind energy becomes a larger component of utilities' overall resource portfolios."

To date in 2009, EnerNOC's demand response network has been dispatched in each of the company's service territories throughout North America due to region-specific needs such as record heat waves, fires under transmission lines, high wholesale electricity prices, plant failures, peak management, system tests, and other needs.

EnerNOC has announced bilateral contracts with seven utilities in 2009, while continuing to expand its presence in open markets. A critical component to the company's ability to rapidly scale its network while ensuring continued successful delivery of demand response has been the deployment of PowerTalk, EnerNOC's innovative presence-enabled smart grid technology. In addition to assisting in the streamlined enablement of demand response sites, PowerTalk provides EnerNOC's Network Operations Center personnel real-time visibility into demand response assets at participating commercial, institutional, and industrial sites. PowerTalk enables predictable, dynamic, and reliable dispatch and management, while providing utilities, end-use customers, and EnerNOC a real-time, transparent view of demand response event performance.
