Prominent Intellectual Property Lawyers Lee Bromberg and Erik Belt Join McCarter & English


BOSTON, Aug. 26, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- McCarter & English announced today that Lee Bromberg and Erik Belt have joined the firm as partners in the Boston Office's expanding Intellectual Property/ Information Technology Group. Mr. Bromberg and Mr. Belt have established themselves as leading intellectual property litigators and trial strategists.

Mr. Bromberg was the co-founder of Bromberg & Sunstein in 1979 and is among the nation's foremost intellectual property trial lawyers. He has successfully handled a broad range of technology-based cases including numerous patent infringement actions and trademark, copyright, trade secret and unfair competition cases in high technology areas. In 2005, Mr. Bromberg won a nearly 21 million dollar false advertising jury verdict, the largest financial judgment in music industry history, according to MusicTrades Magazine. That is just one of the many multimillion dollar verdicts he has won for his clients.

Mr. Bromberg earned his Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School, his Master's Degree in English from Cornell University and his Bachelor's Degree magna cum laude from the University of Michigan. Mr. Belt is a trial lawyer whose practice focuses on patent, trademark and licensing disputes in federal and state courts, arbitrations and the United States Patent & Trademark Office. He has tried a wide array of technology cases involving, for example, software, medical devices and x-ray inspection systems. Mr. Belt won approximately $11 million in unpaid royalties, attorney's fees and interest for an R & D lab that had invented the key component of a profitable medical diagnostic device.

Mr. Belt earned his Juris Doctorate cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School and his Bachelor of Arts Degree, magna cum laude from Brown University. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the Boston Patent Law Association and, as co-chair of its Amicus Committee, has written amicus briefs in several important appeals of patent law issues including cases heard by the United States Supreme Court. He is also involved in other charity and volunteer efforts in the community.
