ExtraHop Networks Sponsors New Aberdeen Research on Application and Network Visibility

Research Findings Support the Value of ExtraHop's Approach to Managing Application and Network Performance

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - September 9, 2009) - ExtraHop Networks, Inc., the pioneer of innovative new Application Delivery Assurance systems, today announced the sponsorship of a new report from industry analyst firm Aberdeen Group, "Benchmarking Network and Application Visibility." As a report sponsor, ExtraHop Networks is making this research available for free download at www.extrahop.com.

For this study, Aberdeen surveyed 156 respondents across a range of industries and crafted detailed profiles of best-in-class companies that succeeded in leveraging leading-edge solutions to keep the enterprise running. The Aberdeen report found that the management strategies of top-performing companies rely on a balanced perspective between network visibility down to the packet level and application visibility at the transaction level. The best-in class respondents in this research initiative were more than twice as likely to resolve performance issues before they impact the business.

"As server virtualization and cloud computing have proliferated in the last few years, the importance of network and application visibility has risen exponentially," said Jeffrey Debarros, Senior Research Analyst, Network and Application Performance Management at Aberdeen. "Leading-edge enterprises are looking beyond traditional monitoring and moving towards a new class of solutions that combines a unified perspective for network infrastructure and application visibility with more advanced performance analysis and proactive thresholding and alerting capabilities. Our research revealed significant gaps between best-in-class organizations and the rest of the industry in their ability to maximize the performance and availability of mission-critical applications."

Aberdeen's research details the increasing need for a more granular, application-specific, and proactive approach to ensure the reliability of vital business processes. The report also reveals that companies that have succeeded in improving application availability and preventing performance issues have changed their focus significantly from general network monitoring to more specific application monitoring and analysis. Lastly, the report provides specific guidance and detailed recommendations on how to reach best-in-class status for application and network management.

"We built the ExtraHop Application Delivery Assurance system to ensure that business-critical transactions don't fail. The ExtraHop system provides a unified view for the application and network teams to come together and gain unparalleled insights into their production applications," said Jesse Rothstein, CEO of ExtraHop Networks. "The Aberdeen report corroborates our belief that L7, real-time transaction analysis is vital to successful application delivery."
