DETROIT, Sept. 16, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq:CPWR) today announced that Con-way, an industry leader in freight transportation and logistics services, will detail how end-to-end application performance management is helping its IT organization monitor and measure end-user experience. The presentation will take place at the itSMF USA Fusion 2009 Conference in Grapevine, TX on September 21, 2009, at 11:15a.m. CT. The session, titled: "Identifying the Root Cause and Quick Problem Resolution: An End-to-end Application Performance Case Study," will highlight how Con-way improved freight delivery services for its customers using Compuware Vantage.
As a freight transportation leader, Con-way operates from more than 500 locations across North America and in 17 countries across five continents. With a mission to deliver quality services and innovative freight solutions to partners worldwide, Con-way's IT team knew they faced a major problem when critical business applications that move freight were performing poorly and slowing down the flow of freight, affecting their ability to deliver on-time to customers. This inability to measure and monitor IT problems before they impacted the business resulted in user frustration and a lack of credibility in IT. That's when Con-way turned to Compuware.
At itSMF USA Fusion 2009, Jonathan Dowell, IT Process Manager at Con-way, Inc. will discuss how an end-to-end application performance program using Compuware Vantage resulted in significant performance improvements, faster problem resolution, higher customer satisfaction as well as renewed confidence and credibility in IT.
"As Con-way depends more on technology to make business decisions, the availability and reliability of our technologies becomes even more critical. Monitoring performance from end-to-end with Compuware Vantage allows our IT department to validate complaints of poor performance and conduct quick fault domain isolation," said Dowell.
"This enables my IT team to investigate root cause and recommend improvements to the system faster. It also serves as a reporting mechanism to provide metrics to the business to ensure that we're meeting our performance and availability targets. With Compuware Vantage we now have visibility into end-user experience and the critical business process associated with it, enabling IT to prioritize and implement improvements to the services we provide. I look forward to sharing this story with my industry peers at the itSMF conference."
One of Con-way's strategic initiatives is to transform its IT infrastructure through IT Service Management (ITSM) and use of Lean continuous improvement techniques. Compuware is helping Con-way by providing end-to-end monitoring technologies to strengthen their event, incident, and problem management process which feeds data to their other ITSM processes.
"This is transforming the way we look at our people, processes, technologies and partners toward our objectives of high availability, reliability, scalability and growth at the lowest cost," said Dowell."Additionally, we've been able to use metrics from Compuware Vantage to quantify the value of improvements for some of our lean initiatives. I think itSMF attendees will gain valuable insight from the Lean techniques we are using and how Compuware is helping us accomplish this."
Compuware will also exhibit at itSMF Fusion USA 2009 (booth # 2107) and will demonstrate Compuware Vantage along with its IT Portfolio Management and Mainframe solutions.
