Clariant Appoints Christian Kohlpaintner Member of the Executive Committee


Muttenz, September 25, 2009 - Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, has appointed Christian Kohlpaintner as a member of its Executive Committee. He will join the company on October 1, 2009.
 
Christian Kohlpaintner, born 1963, joins Clariant from "Chemische Fabrik Budenheim", Germany, one of the world's leading suppliers of specialty phosphates and phosphoric acid, where he served as CEO and Chairman of the Managing Board. Prior to this he held various challenging management positions in R&D, Operations, Marketing and Supply Chain in Europe and the US for Celanese and Hoechst. He holds a PhD in chemistry from the "Technische Universität München", Germany. Clariant's CEO Hariolf Kottmann commented: "I am pleased by Christian Kohlpaintner's decision to join Clariant. After long and successful careers with Clariant, Executive Committee members Dominik von Bertrab, responsible for the Masterbatches and Pigments & Additives Divisions, and Siegfried Fischer, responsible for the Functional Chemicals Division, have decided to leave Clariant to pursue other opportunities. Until Clariant's new structure becomes effective on January 1, 2010, Christian Kohlpaintner will assume responsibility for the Masterbatches and Functional Chemicals Divisions, as well as for Group Technology. Mathias Lütgendorf will be in charge of the Pigments & Additives Division and for Procurement and Supply Chain Management, in addition to his responsibility for the Textiles, Leather and Paper Business Units. Roles and responsibilities within the Executive Committee as of January 1, 2010 will be announced in due course.
