Attachments Are Old: SugarSync's Public Links Provide Immediate File Sharing

New Feature Allows Users to Provide Direct Download Links to Any File, From Anywhere on Any Communication Platform

SAN MATEO, CA--(Marketwire - September 30, 2009) - Sharpcast, Inc. today announced that SugarSync, the leading digital life management service, will now provide public links for users to instantly share files from their SugarSync accounts. Public links provide unlimited direct downloads, which allow SugarSync users to be more productive and to increase the viral potential of their shared files on popular social media platforms, such as Twitter or Facebook.

SugarSync's public download links provide a powerful service for people to effortlessly share large files such as PowerPoint presentations, videos, music and photos. There are no limits on the number of times that files can be downloaded, making the service particularly useful to those who have a large number of social media connections or who frequently need to share files professionally. Account owners will also be able to see how many people have downloaded the file and can turn off the download link whenever they choose, giving them complete visibility and control over the file's activity.

Public links provide a seamless process for sharing and downloading files. Rather than emailing large attachments or waiting for files to upload before being ready to be shared, active download links are accessible in the SugarSync desktop application by simply right clicking on any file synced in a user's account. Users who are away from their computer can generate public links from their SugarSync Web portal. Recipients of the link can immediately download the file, without having to navigate through landing pages or additional websites. Users of paid accounts will be able to share files up to 2GB and free accounts will be able to share files up to 5MB.

"SugarSync's public download links will be one of the easiest and most efficient ways to share files online and are another big step for digital life management," said Laura Yecies, chief executive officer at Sharpcast. "Whether our users want to distribute a portfolio of work to clients and prospective customers or Tweet a picture, song or video for all of their followers to be able to download, we designed public links to make all of our users more productive and flexible with how they can share files online."

SugarSync's flexible syncing solution provides always-connected consumers and busy professionals a powerful way to organize, manage, share and access all their files on-the-go, instantly and securely from any Mac, PC or mobile device. SugarSync can sync files by folder, making it easy for users to organize and manage their digital lives. SugarSync's other collaboration tools, like the folder sharing feature, allow users to share any folder or file with controlled access to anyone they choose.
