According to a China Tech News summary of a recent IDC market research
report, trade in China's e-commerce is expected to reach CNY3.22 trillion
in total trade by 2010, up from CNY1.951 trillion in 2008. The Chinese
online auction site, Taobao.com, similar to E-bay, realized staggering
growth, reporting CNY100 billion in trade volume in 2008, compared to just
CNY43.3 billion in 2007. Even with strong growth, the penetration of
e-commerce in China is just north of 25%, leaving considerable room for
continued expansion. Wireless Expertise, a UK-based wireless market
research and consulting firm, expects rapid growth in the global mobile
application marketplace from $4.66 billion in 2009 to $16.6 billion in
2013. Much of the growth is fueled by mobile phones currently outnumbering
PCs around the world 4:1. Because of their mobility, the opportunity for
growth is substantially higher than fixed-line applications and solutions.
