Tesla Motors to Shine as FiReGlobal : West Coast FiReStar
FRIDAY HARBOR, WA--(Marketwire - October 12, 2009) - FiReGlobal : West Coast is proud to
announce that Tesla Motors has been selected as a FiReStar company to be
featured at the FiReGlobal : West Coast conference. FiReStar companies,
both local and global, are pre-selected based on their potential to bring
positive change to the world. These companies will be showcased throughout
the conference, and at a FiReStar reception, during which local and global
investors will be given the chance to meet company officers.
Tesla Motors is the world's only automaker producing and selling
highway-capable electric vehicles. Led by co-founder and CEO Elon Musk,
Tesla's vision is to build more affordable electric vehicles for mainstream
consumers in order to reduce the negative environmental impact of internal
combustion engines and minimize the geopolitical instability resulting from
oil addiction. Musk was the first recipient of the FiRe Entrepreneur of the
Year Award for 2009.
"Tesla's goal is to advance electric vehicle technology so that more and
more consumers around the world will be able to buy green cars," said John
Walker, Tesla's vice president of North American sales. "EVs have a smaller
environmental footprint than traditional gas guzzlers, but they are also
far more convenient -- no routine oil changes or trips to the gasoline
station. We can all breathe easier knowing that cities of the future will
be quieter and cleaner, thanks to EVs."
The FiReGlobal : West Coast conference will take place October 15th at the
Seattle Four Seasons Hotel. It is the first regional version of the
renowned Future in Review™ annual global technology conference, which
the Economist calls "the best technology conference in the world."
FiReGlobal : West Coast will showcase a world-class gathering of local and
global thought leaders in technology and economics, through a series of
interviews and onstage conversations. In a move beyond current tech
conferences, FiReGlobal : West Coast has overlaid regional problems
nominated by local leaders, to be solved through the collaboration of
local Chief Technology Officers prior to the conference.
"Tesla Motors is a global leader in transportation, energy independence and
climate change. This company has the ability to change the whole world in
a positive way, and we are pleased to welcome Tesla as the first of our
FiReStar companies for this event," said Mark Anderson, CEO of SNS, Chair
of FiRe and FiReGlobal : West Coast.
Other speakers will include Michael Dell, Chairman and CEO of Dell; Irwin
Jacobs, Founder of Qualcomm; RealNetworks Founder, Chairman and CEO Rob
