DALLAS, TX--(Marketwire - October 27, 2009) - NewMarket Technology, Inc. (PINKSHEETS : NWMT )
today announced the commencement of the Trade Mission to Kenya, being
hosted by the Company's board member, former Chairman of the Dallas Federal
Reserve and a retired Major General Hugh G. Robinson. NewMarket is a
twelve-year-old, global systems integrator and emerging technology provider
with operations in Asia, Latin America and North America. Since 2002,
NewMarket operations have expanded from reporting approximately $1 million
in annual revenue to over $95 million in revenue in 2008. The Company has
set a $100 million profitable revenue forecast for 2009.
The Company is now focused on expansion to the African continent, with
initial operational development in Kenya and targeting the surrounding
emerging economies in East Africa. Earlier this year, NewMarket was
invited to present at the African Advanced Level Telecommunications
Institute (AFRALTI) WiMax Conference in Nairobi, based on the Company's
experience in emerging economies. The Company had previously participated
in the "Connecting Rural Communities Africa Forum 2007," also in Nairobi.
Broadband adoption in Africa is expected to experience 28% growth annually
through 2013 as undersea cables come online. Kenya has one submarine cable
in place with two additional cables expected by 2011. The expanded capacity
for broadband in Africa is expected to reduce costs by nearly 75%, making
broadband affordable to end-users. Africa's current broadband system relies
heavily on satellite for broadband communication, which typically costs
about 20 times more than broadband offerings in the U.S. A recent report by
Pyramid Research stated, "By early 2011, we expect that more than half of
all African markets will have 3G, while broadband coverage is increasing
daily via both wireless and wireline technologies."
As the region's technology and communication infrastructure expands,
NewMarket plans to meet the growing demand by positioning itself to provide
a wide range of high-quality, affordable technology products and services.
To do so, the Company has announced plans to expand its operations in China
into the East Africa region.
