Hamburg, 05.11.2009 - UMS United Medical Systems International AG (UMS/
ISIN DE0005493654) continued its growth course in the first nine months of
fiscal 2009 in spite of the global recession. Initial calculations show an
approximate 15% increase in sales in euros over the previous year, with an
even stronger showing in Q3 2009 than in the previous quarters. The Company
benefited from the stronger average exchange rate for the U.S. dollar than
in the previous year.

On a euro basis, UMS AG generated sales of EUR29.6 million in the period
from January to September 2009, up from EUR25.7 million in the same period
last year. According to initial calculations, the UMS Group's EBIT rose
from EUR7.5 million last year to EUR9.1 million in the first nine months of
the current fiscal year.

Initial calculations show earnings per share (EPS) for the first nine
months of fiscal 2009 of EUR0.40, a clear increase over the EPS of EUR0.33
in the same period last year. This corresponds to earnings of EUR2.2
million, up from EUR1.9 million in the first nine months of last year. At
constant exchange rates, last year's EPS would be EUR0.36 per share.

UMS will publish the final figures for the 3rd quarter of 2009 on November
13, 2009.
