Opengear Extends Its Line of Advanced Console Servers to Meet the Needs of Remote Offices

SANDY, UT--(Marketwire - November 16, 2009) - Opengear (www.opengear.com) today announced it has brought the market-leading functionality of its leading Advanced Console Manager series to the remote office/branch office. The new ACM5000 line of products gives network managers simple and cost effective ways to manage network, power and computer devices in their small and large distributed networks.

Remote offices have the same security and privacy requirements, the same uptime imperatives, and have an array of physical and virtualized devices from many vendors. The ACM5000 family of products has several key features and a range of advanced features and configurations, including:

--  2, 3 or 4 port serial configurations with free virtual COM port
    redirection software
--  Built-in temperature monitors and dry contacts for water sensors,
    smoke detectors, motion detectors
--  Internal V.92 modem, 3G cellular or 802.11 wireless for flexible out-
    of-band access
--  Dual 10/100 ethernet for segmented private network access
--  USB drive for offline logging and stored configurations
--  Embedded NUT, Powerman to monitor all the distributed serial, USB and
    network attached PDU and UPS systems on site
    

The ACM5000 will be used across many companies and organizations, including retail chains, financial institutions and hospital systems. Organizations can now centrally monitor the status of the power at all the remote outlets and centralize alarms to set up automatic shut-downs to be triggered in the event of battery back-up outages. In event of an outage, they can access all their branch office sites out of band and reboot the systems using the inbuilt service processors. Or they can run software applications on the virtual servers at the head office that communicates securely to serial devices at the remote sites.
