NCC secures extended rock-engineering contract from LKAB worth SEK 380 million

NCC Construction Sweden has extended an existing contract with LKAB concerning
rock-engineering works at Malmberget. The works pertain to the new main level,
the M1250, and the contract value is SEK 380 million.

Since 2006, NCC has been performing rock-engineering assignments at Malmberget
for the new main level, the M1250, as well as certain preparatory works
involving ore. The figures 1250 represent the number of meters under the former
surface.

“We already have a contract with LKAB for the project at hand and the client has
now shown us continued trust to complete the new main level, the M1250. The
contract also includes preparatory works, meaning preparations for the mining of
ore,” says Thomas Stenvall, NCC Construction, Norrland Region.

The volume of drift mining totals 22,500 meters. The assignment will start in
January 2010 and is scheduled for completion in December 2012.

Since the project is a direct continuation of current assignments, it will not
result in any new NCC employees being recruited at Malmberget.

The order will be registered in the fourth quarter of 2009.
