SACRAMENTO, CA--(Marketwire - December 17, 2009) - With a new public opinion poll showing a majority of Californians are concerned about their water supply, Association of California Water Agencies Executive Director Timothy Quinn said the findings mean the public recognizes the importance of investing in the state's water infrastructure.

Of the more than 2,000 California residents surveyed by the Public Policy Institute of California in "Californians and Their Government," three out of four said water supply is a big problem or somewhat of a problem, and nearly six in 10 said their water supply will be inadequate for the next 10 years.

"The public's responses in the PPIC poll are very encouraging," Quinn said. "California's water supply system is in dire straights. It's heartening to see the public is aware of the problem."
