MILPITAS, CA--(Marketwire - January 4, 2010) - The Z-Wave Alliance, an open consortium of global companies dedicated to building home control products based on Z-Wave wireless technology, today announced that there are five Z-Wave-based iPhone apps available for download in the Apple App Store from Homemanageables, HomeSeer, iControl Networks, Schlage and Xanboo.

"Mobile home control is a natural extension of wireless home control, so it's not a surprise that so many Z-Wave Alliance members are churning out mobile apps," noted Raoul Wijgergangs, chairman of the Z-Wave Alliance. "We've had members offering mobile home control for years -- the App Store just made it really easy for consumers and is helping Z-Wave break further into the mainstream."

Following is an overview of the mobile apps currently available in the Apple App Store from Z-Wave Alliance members:

-- Homemanageables -- launched in 2008, Homemanageables' iPhone app
allows its customers to remotely manage their homes effortlessly using its
Z-Wave-based off-the-shelf, affordable wireless home control and
    monitoring system.
-- HomeSeer -- part of its HSTouch™ system, HSTouch/iPhone will allow
users to fully customize their iPhone/iPod Touch screens with their own
graphics and designs. For the less adventurous, a standard plug and play
"list" interface will be the default. HSTouch works with all HomeSeer
systems and is compatible with all Z-Wave products.
-- iControl Networks -- iControl's iPhone App for its ConnectedLife
broadband home management solution enables end users to arm/disarm their
security systems, see live video and event-drive video clips or pictures,
and adjust lighting and thermostat settings.
-- Schlage -- In March of this year, Schlage announced the availability
of the free iPhone app for its Z-Wave-based Schlage LiNK™ system in the
Apple App Store. The LiNK iPhone app lets homeowners remotely monitor and
control access to their homes through doors equipped with Schlage®
wireless locks, manage heating and cooling using the Trane® Remote Energy
Management Thermostat and control a variety of other Z-Wave-enabled devices
from any location -- all via their iPhone. The Schlage LiNK application was
featured in Apple's "12 Apps of Christmas" TV commercial, which ran the
    week before Christmas.
-- Xanboo -- Xanboo's iPhone app enables users to log in and control all
of their devices, including their Z-Wave controls. These disparate third
party devices work together, so if the front door opens, the Z-Wave lamp
can turn on, a camera takes video clips, and then emails the end
user. Xanboo also enables Z-Wave devices to interact with Honeywell and DSC
security systems. So, for example, when you disarm your security system
your lights can turn on, or temperature change. Xanboo has launched with
over 200 security alarm companies in the US.

Two more Z-Wave iPhone apps that will be launched in early 2010 include:

-- 4Home -- Expected to launch in early 2010, the iPhone app developed by
4Home ( will allow retail and service provider partners to
deploy any or all of its Home Control Services Platform to consumers.
Access to live video and recordings from IP cameras, control of all Z-Wave
devices in the home, and smart management of the home's energy consumption
will all be available remotely via the iPhone.
-- SquareConnect -- DotControl from SquareConnect (
is the ultimate remote control iPhone app for Z-Wave networks. It's easy to
set up and use with pre-configured custom controls for locks, thermostats,
lights, appliances, shades and AV equipment. DotControl requires a Home
Control gateway such as "Vera" from MiCasaVerde ( to
    control Z-Wave devices.

In addition, there are a number of manufacturers that have developed iPhone interfaces that can communicate with Z-Wave via certified Z-Wave solutions. For example, Home Logic, HAI, In2, Savant, Crestron, AMX, and Cortexa all have iPhone interfaces and can use the Leviton Vizia RF Z-Wave serial interface to speak Z-Wave. And BuLogics' Smart Grid Home Controller's iPhone interface is Z-Wave interoperable.

"This is only the tip of the iceberg with regard to the number of Z-Wave mobile apps we expect to be available in the near future," added Mary Miller, director of marketing for Sigma Designs, the developer of Z-Wave. "The iPhone paved the way, but Android development is fierce and its open source foundation makes it a natural fit for mobile home control and Z-Wave."

There are more than 300 Z-Wave certified products on the market today, providing an end-to-end solution that allows the homeowner to wirelessly manage and adjust lighting, thermostats, appliances and home entertainment systems from anywhere in the world.

The Z-Wave Alliance will be exhibiting at CES 2010 (Booth # 20901 South Hall) in Las Vegas from January 7-10, where the latest and greatest Z-Wave certified products will be on display.
