Gütersloh, January 25, 2010. According to preliminary calculations for
Fiscal Year 2009 Bertelsmann AG expects that dividends on its Profit
Participation Certificate 1992 (ISIN DE0005229900) will be between 3
percent and 5 percent of par value. Dividends on Profit Participation
Certificate 1992 are based on return on assets (ROA) throughout the
Bertelsmann Group. For Fiscal Year 2009, ROA is expected to be between 2
percent and 4 percent. For Fiscal Year 2008 dividends amounted to 5.12
percent of par value.

Dividends on Profit Participation Certificate 1992 are expected to be paid
in May 2010.
