New Sky and Colorado School of Mines Form New Partnership


BOULDER, CO--(Marketwire - January 28, 2010) - New Sky Energy and the Colorado School of Mines announced this week that they have entered into a sponsored research agreement to build a fully operating, scalable model of New Sky's electro-chemical and carbon capture technology.

The joint project will proceed under a 1-year, $200,000 Sponsored Research Agreement funded by Boulder-based New Sky Energy. The project will allow New Sky and Mines to rapidly develop a showcase facility that implements New Sky's technology to capture and convert CO2 into useful products. "I am highly confident that the project will be cost effective and technically successful," said Dr. Nigel Sammes, who will lead the project for Mines. Sammes, who will co-manage the project with Little, is the Coors Distinguished Professor of Ceramic Engineering at Mines and has 10 years of private-sector experience in the electro-chemical industry. Other project researchers include Dr. Ryan O'Hayre from the School of Mines and Dr. Joe Kosmoski from New Sky Energy.
