SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - February 2, 2010) - Juniper Networks, Inc. (NYSE: JNPR) today
announced that IntercontinentalExchange, Inc. (NYSE: ICE) has selected its
MX 3D Universal Edge Routers and EX Series Ethernet Switches powered by
Junos® Software for its next generation network infrastructure. Optimized
for reliability, scalability and ultra-low latency, the new
high-performance infrastructure leverages the power of Junos to support
millions of daily financial transactions from ICE's extensive customer base,
which spans more than 50 countries.
"The majority of our business activity consists of trading functions which
require a flexible and highly available network that can enhance
operational efficiencies without sacrificing performance," said Mark
Wassersug, vice president of operations at ICE. "With Juniper's routers,
switches and world-class Junos Software, we can reduce latency in our
network, which supports our ability to grow volumes and deliver high levels
of customer satisfaction. As a result of the implementation of these and
other leading-edge infrastructure components, ICE's technology is
recognized for its performance in the global derivatives markets."
Increasing Network Reliability and Reducing Complexity with Junos
Software
ICE has deployed Juniper's MX 3D Universal Edge Routers which provide
the most advanced routing capabilities, including MPLS network
virtualization, full Level 2 and Level 3 VPN support, low-latency multicast
and IPv6. ICE also deployed Juniper's EX8200 Ethernet Switches, providing a flexible and modular
platform that incorporates a built-in migration path for future 100 gigabit
Ethernet (GbE) deployments without requiring any upgrades to the switch
fabric.
Laying the foundation for this infrastructure is Junos,
a single-source operating system that integrates routing, switching,
security and network services. This powerful combination allows network
administrators to unlock more value from the network to quickly and
cost-effectively keep up with changing business demands while minimizing
the complexity and risk associated with implementing network features and
upgrades.
"As a leading global exchange operator, IntercontinentalExchange required a
network that could meet their intensive bandwidth demands while driving
down latency to facilitate its business operations," said Mike Banic, vice
president, enterprise marketing, Juniper Networks. "The deployment of our
comprehensive and agile solutions enabled ICE to meet and exceed these
critical requirements while driving down operating costs and delivering the
flexibility to scale its infrastructure."
Juniper's innovations in financial services solutions deliver a responsive and
trusted environment for handling high-volume transactions and interactions
based on a lower total cost structure. According to a report from Forrester
Research, organizations that deploy Juniper switches and routers powered by
Junos can achieve a 40% reduction in operating costs for certain network
tasks, including planning, provisioning and deployment as well as both
planned and unplanned network events. To view the complete report, please
