SANDY, UT--(Marketwire - February 9, 2010) - Opengear (www.opengear.com), a leading provider
of next-generation console
server and KVM over IP solutions, today announced that it saw
significant growth and industry validation in 2009.
"We made great strides in 2009 expanding our open source product line so
that we could bring better out-of-band management to remote offices and at
the same time increase the availability of our products in the government
sector through FIPS 140-2 and a GSA contract," said Todd Rychecky, VP of
Sales and Marketing of Opengear. "Globally, it was an economically
challenging year; however, we feel the development work our team invested
in made 2009 a great success and we look forward to continued growth in
2010."
Highlights of 2009 included:
-- Opengear doubled North American revenue as well as global revenue with
more than 200 new corporate end users including AAA and MaxGaming, a
subsidiary of Tatts Group, Opengear's first million dollar
deal.
-- Opengear open source console servers moved into many more government
installations due to FIPS140-2 validation and a new 5 year GSA Contract for
federal buyers.
-- Opengear increased its product line to help IT managers better manage
remote offices with the launch of the ACM5000 product
line.
-- Opengear signed up 57 new channel partners and was voted one of the
most promising open source channel partner programs by leading channel
publication The VAR Guy.
-- Opengear was featured in several positive reviews by leading IT
publications and end users, including InfoWorld and PacketLife.com.

server... Opengear's CM4000 series is an ideal solution for both critical
out-of-band console access and robust lab management."
Brian Chee

InfoWorld
"Budget-beating, out-of-band management. Opengear's all-in-one appliance
combines service processor aggregation, serial console, and environmental
monitoring at a nice price."
Rick Dimmick
Senior Systems Architect and Network and Systems Management
AAA National
Office
"AAA National Office provides managed firewall services to AAA Clubs and
needed an out-of-band management solution to the remote firewall. Opengear
provided a solution that fit perfectly, allowing secure remote console
connectivity to remote firewalls for management for a very reasonable price
via the internet or dialup."
Thomas Asaro
Vice President
Linode
"Opengear console servers are one of the most critical parts of our
infrastructure. Having Opengear CM4148s attached to all of our equipment
gives us the independence to quickly diagnose and deal with issues
ourselves, rather than waiting for on-site staff. Opengear helps us with
configuration management, out-of-band system administration, and system
health monitoring. Opengear CM4148 console servers have enabled us to build
a centralized, real-time console message logging system, allowing us to
monitor for critical patterns and search console messages."
