Korea's Advanced Digital Chips, Inc. Joins EEMBC Board of Directors

EL DORADO HILLS, CA--(Marketwire - February 9, 2010) - The Embedded Microprocessor Benchmark Consortium (EEMBC) today announced that Advanced Digital Chips, Inc. (ADC) is the latest maker of embedded microprocessors to join its Board of Directors.

Products from Korea-based ADC include 32-bit microcontrollers, multimedia processors, and microprocessor cores. The company's high-performance chips include processors for video, graphics, multimedia, image processing, and general embedded applications. ADC is the inventor of a new Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) called Extendable Instruction Set Computer (EISC), a smaller, faster, and more cost-effective compressed code processor architecture for embedded applications.

As a member of EEMBC's Board of Directors, ADC enjoys full voting rights on all major issues decided by the consortium, plus full access to all of the EEMBC® benchmarks.

"We are delighted to welcome Advanced Digital Chips to the EEMBC membership," said EEMBC President Markus Levy. "ADC has demonstrated expertise in quite a wide range of embedded systems, from video to cell phones, and we look forward to the contributions the company will make as a member of our Board of Directors."

"ADC is delighted to become a member of EEMBC's Board of Directors," said ADC's President, Mr. K. H. Kwon. "ADC will introduce its EISC technology to the industry with EEMBC benchmark data in two ways, first through the sale of multimedia SoCs and microcontrollers incorporating the EISC MCU, and secondly by licensing EISC MCU technology as IP to semiconductor foundries and design companies. We look forward to making a significant contribution to the growth of EISC technology."

About EEMBC

EEMBC, the Embedded Microprocessor Benchmark Consortium, develops benchmark software to help designers select the right embedded processors for their systems. Benchmark algorithms and applications developed by EEMBC are organized into benchmark suites targeting telecommunications, networking, digital media, Java, automotive/industrial, consumer, and office equipment products. An additional suite of benchmarks, called MultiBench, specifically targets the capabilities of multicore processors based on an SMP architecture. These benchmarks may be obtained by joining EEMBC's open membership or through a corporate or university licensing program. The EEMBC Technology Center manages development of new benchmark software and certifies benchmark test results. More information is available at www.eembc.org.

EEMBC members include Advanced Digital Chips, AMD, Analog Devices, Andes Technology, Applied Micro, ARM, Broadcom, Cavium Networks, Code Sourcery, Cypress Semiconductor, EEMBC, Faraday, Freescale Semiconductor, Fujitsu Microelectronics, Green Hills Software, IAR Systems AB, IBM, Imagination Technologies, Infineon Technologies, Intel, LSI, LynuxWorks, Marvell Semiconductor, MediaTek, Mentor Graphics, Microchip Technology, MIPS Technologies, National Instruments, NEC Electronics, Netlogic Microsystems, Nokia, NXP Semiconductors, Open Kernel Labs, Qualcomm, Realtek Semiconductor, Red Hat, Renesas Technology, Samsung Electronics, Sony Computer Entertainment, STMicroelectronics, Sun Microsystems, Texas Instruments, VIA Technologies, VMware, and Wind River Systems.
