Opengear Expands Serial Device Server and Power Management Product Lines

SANDY, UT--(Marketwire - February 18, 2010) -  Opengear (www.opengear.com), a leading provider of next-generation console server and KVM over IP solutions, today announced the availability of the Opengear IP-PDU9108 for expanded monitoring and control of branch offices and the Opengear SD4001 for secure industrial networking.

"From secure industrial networking to expanded products that assist with the control of remote locations, we continue to expand our product line to suit the needs of our customers," said Bob Waldie, CEO of Opengear. "Opengear has seen record growth because we are focused on listening to our customers' needs and providing the most robust, lowest cost infrastructure management solutions available today."

Secure Industrial Networking
Opengear's new SD4001 device is an inexpensive way to help users securely connect, manage and control RS232/422/485 serial devices from anywhere over ethernet or the internet. The SD4001 has 1 DB9M serial port and its form factor is only 4 inches by 1 ¾ by 1 inch. It provides fast, secure and reliable local and remote connectivity to serial ports on meters, scanners, access control, sensors, PLC's and SCADA equipment. The MSRP of the SD4001 is $129.00 US.

In addition, the SD4001:

  • IP-enables and SNMP-enables a myriad of dumb serial devices
  • SNMP-enables serial UPSs and PDUs for less than proprietary SNMP cards
  • Offers serial COM port access from virtual machines distributed across networks
  • Offers dial-up access to a managed network device

Expanded Control of Remote Offices
The new IP-PDU9108 adds to Opengear's selection of hardware and software solutions for power management. The IP-PDU9108 allows an administrator to securely access the PDU from a remote terminal and turn on or off outlets and control the load by web and SNMP. Opengear console servers also have the most comprehensive tools for managing these and third party PDUs and UPS systems. The MSRP of the IP-PDU9108 is $375.00 US.

In addition, the IP-PDU9108:

  • Operates as a standalone product or integrates with Opengear Console Management
  • Has a hot key reboot or auto reboot capability when used with Opengear Console Servers
  • Robust 19" rack mount solution

Opengear offers several other product lines to help IT managers manage remote locations including:

  • ACM5000 - The ACM5000 line of products give network managers simple and cost effective tools for managing the network, power and computer devices in their small and large distributed networks. Organizations can centrally monitor the status of the power at all the remote outlets and centralize alarms to set up automatic shut-downs to be triggered in the event of battery back-up outages or excessive operating temperatures.
  • IP-KVM1001 - The Opengear single port KVM over IP access has both USB and PS2 connectors for server and client connections. The IP-KVM1001 is also equipped with dual 10-100 ethernet and a local KVM interface for direct access. Customers can avoid single point of failure found in larger KVM over IP switches, and grow their remote access with one IP-KVM at a time.
