Zumiez Relocating Washington Distribution Center to California

EVERETT, WA--(Marketwire - February 22, 2010) -  Zumiez Inc. (NASDAQ: ZUMZ) has announced the company will be closing its Everett Distribution Center and relocating this portion of its business to Corona, California. The company's headquarters, corporate offices and ecommerce division will remain in Everett, Washington.

As a result of this process, Zumiez will vacate Building C on Merrill Creek Parkway, the smaller of the two buildings it leases, in Everett, Washington and will be purchasing a new 168,450 square feet Silver Certified Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design building in Corona, California. The company anticipates hiring 180-200 people in California.

"Decisions like this are difficult, especially when they impact our employees. The Company continually evaluates opportunities to reduce its supply chain complexity, lower costs and increase the speed to get inventory in its stores. Since the majority of our vendors are located in California, this move makes sense. It will trim transportation time, increase the speed of getting inventory to our customers, and reduce freight and distribution costs," said Trevor Lang, Zumiez Chief Financial Officer.

Zumiez is a leading specialty retailer of action sports related apparel, footwear, equipment and accessories. Our stores cater to young men and women between ages 12-24, focusing on skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding, motocross and BMX. As of January 30, 2010 we operate 377 stores throughout the United States, including 23 located in Washington.
