Gold Coast Art Fair Moves to Grant Park

One of Chicago's Oldest and Largest Festivals Hosts Artists at New Location

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - February 23, 2010) - Amdur Productions, a nationally acclaimed art festival production company, announced today that the iconic Gold Coast Art Fair will move to Grant Park's Butler Field, at the corner of Monroe and Lake Shore Drive, for its 53rd year. Nationally revered as the "Granddaddy of American Art Festivals," the Gold Coast Art Fair is rated as one of the top twenty festivals nationally and is the third oldest and by far one of the most well attended art festivals in Chicago. The Fair will take place at its new location on Friday, August 20 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Saturday, August 21 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday, August 22 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (subject to change based on NFL schedule).

"In the past, we've had more artists apply than we've been able to accommodate at the old location," says Amy Amdur, Founder and President of her namesake firm. "The new Grant Park location is larger and offers more artists the opportunity to showcase and sell their work. In addition to the opportunities for artists, the public will also benefit from the new location as there is ample parking at the nearby Monroe Parking Garage, no busy streets to cross while enjoying the festival and plenty of attractions nearby including Millennium Park and the Art Institute."

Free and open to the public, the Gold Coast Art Fair will showcase the work of more than 400 juried artists compared to the 350 artists who exhibited in years past. Fairgoers will have the opportunity to enjoy and purchase artwork in a variety of mediums including ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, sculpture, mixed media, paintings, drawings, photography, wood and furniture. In addition to the artwork available for purchase at the fair, many of the artists take commissions and will make one-of-a-kind pieces for art enthusiasts. Original works range in price from $25 to $25,000, ensuring there is something for everyone.

In addition to extraordinary artwork available at the Fair, guests will have the opportunity to meet the artists and view live art demonstrations which take place all weekend. Live music from local bands and musicians can be heard throughout the weekend and tasty treats will be available for purchase. Activities for kids also take place at the Gold Coast Art Fair, including an interactive art wall where children can help paint a mural.
