Exciting Networking Opportunities and Special Events Being Planned for the 2010 Food Safety Summit

Awards Programs, Vendor Theaters and Receptions to Focus on Sharing Ideas


DEERFIELD, IL--(Marketwire - February 23, 2010) -  When the food safety industry gathers in April for the 12th Annual Food Safety Summit, there will be many opportunities for sharing of ideas and experience and networking with colleagues and peers both in the educational sessions and on the Show floor. The three day event will take place Monday, April 12 through Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at the Washington DC Convention Center.

The Summit will highlight two awards programs. On Tuesday, April 13 at 5:45 pm, DuPont Qualicon will present the Food Quality Award to a Quality Assurance/Quality Control team who has made an exceptional contribution to food safety. During the reception, R. Dale Morton, Director of Food Safety Programs, PepsiCo North America will discuss the evolving challenges in today's food safety culture. On the morning of Wednesday April 14th at 9:45 am the NSF will present the Food Safety Leadership Awards in the following eight categories: education, training, equipment design, packaging innovation, product development, research advances, system improvement and technology breakthroughs. Nomination information is available at www.nsf.org.

On the Show Floor there will be a series of Vendor Roundtables where attendees can listen, learn and participate in focused and interactive discussions. Barbara VanTenterghem, Editor of Food Safety Magazine will moderate a discussion on "Auditing Solutions within the Food Industry" on Tuesday, April 13 at 1:15 pm. Starting at 1:45 pm, also on Tuesday, Pat McGee, Editor of Food Quality Magazine will moderate a discussion on "Traceability - Supply Chain-Wide Adoption of Electronic Traceability." On Wednesday, April 14 at 1:15 pm, Lisa Jo Lupo, Managing Editor of QA Magazine will moderate a discussion on "Breaking Out of the Bubble - Protecting Your Food-Allergic Customers." The round table discussions are free to all Food Safety Summit attendees. Also on the Show floor exhibitors will present highly informative educational sessions in two Vendor Track Theaters. Participating exhibitors include Alchemy Systems, Bureau Veritas Certification, Ingersoll Rand Industrial Refrigeration, Inc., QMI-SAI Global, Romer Labs and others. Check www.foodsafetysummit.com for a complete list of companies and times.

The Food Safety Summit offers a dynamic conference program featuring speakers from leading manufacturers, growers, non-governmental and government agencies, trade associations, supermarkets, academic and legal professionals who will cover all of the important topics facing the industry. There will be two exciting keynote speakers. On Tuesday, April 13 the conference will kick off with a presentation by Mike Robach, Vice President, Corporate Food Safety and Regulatory Affairs, Cargill, Inc. who will discuss, "Global Food Safety Systems." On Wed., April 14, Michael R.
