2010 Fraud and Forensic Accounting Education Conference Features Investigator From "The Informant"

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - February 24, 2010) - FBI Special Agent Robert Herndon, a key investigator in the case that inspired the book and recent film "The Informant," will keynote the Fourth Annual Fraud and Forensic Accounting Education Conference in Atlanta this May. Accounting firm Porter Keadle Moore and Georgia Southern University, in conjunction with the Center for Forensic Studies in Accounting and Business, are sponsoring the event, which will be held May 13-15 at the J.W. Marriott Hotel in Buckhead.

Written by award-winning New York Times investigative reporter Kurt Eichenwald, "The Informant" is a true tale of international price-fixing and corruption at Archer Daniels Midland, one of the nation's largest and most powerful companies. Herndon will use the case as a vehicle to explore the importance of character, leadership and ethics in our daily lives. The conference will also feature a private screening of the 2009 film starring Matt Damon. Damon played Mark Whitacre -- a whistleblower whose bizarre behavior led to prison for both himself and his co-conspirators.

The goal of the conference is to help accountants, attorneys, academics and students develop or augment valuable professional skills in the specialized fields of fraud examination and forensic accounting. Speakers will include experienced forensic investigators from the private sector, universities and government agencies including the FBI, FDIC and U.S. Attorney's office. Sessions will cover a wide range of topics such as Ponzi schemes, the Madoff scandal, mortgage fraud, interviewing techniques and fraud detection.
