Eco-Living Expert Simran Sethi Chooses High-Efficiency Bosch Appliances in Green Renovation of Her First Home

Sethi Blogs About Her Historic 1925 Home's Transformation on oprah.com

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - February 24, 2010) -  Up until now, Simran Sethi -- the woman Vanity Fair calls "the green messenger" -- has been helping other people learn how to make their homes more environmentally-friendly through the green home series she created for Al Gore's nonprofit The Alliance for Climate Protection, working on the green home makeover show The Ecozone Project and as a guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Ellen Degeneres Show, The Martha Stewart Show and many others. Today, as first time homeowner, Sethi is transforming her own house into a model of green living and sharing the process on her blog on oprah.com (http://www.oprah.com/home/Simran-Sethi-Blog). Among the first changes she has made to her historic 1925 two-story house in Lawrence, Kansas is adding an energy- and water-efficient Bosch dishwasher and a Vision washer and dryer pair.

Through articles, slideshows and more, Sethi's blog documents her year-long journey starting as an urban dweller who worked diligently for the environment but never held seeds in her hand. You'll see her grow her own vegetables, make her home more energy efficient and hone in on the most cost-effective and accessible ways to save money and conserve natural resources.

"My first big appliance purchase was a Bosch dishwasher on clearance at Sears. I was raised on Sears, and they will continue to factor into my story going forward. So much so, I used to joke about my 'Sears boyfriend' Zack when I first started my homeowner journey," Sethi writes in a post about updating her appliances. "Bosch was another deliberate choice. Not only because of the rave reviews from all my design-minded friends, but because of the longevity of their products. I want energy heifers, not energy hogs. Bosch was also my choice for a washer and dryer because they offer some of the most energy- and water-efficient front-loading washers on the market."

"As the only U.S. appliance maker whose entire line of dishwashers, clothes washers and refrigerators are ENERGY STAR® qualified, Bosch is proud that Ms. Sethi chose our products to help reduce energy and water use in her home," said John Farley, senior brand and environmental marketing manager, Bosch home appliances. "Now through April is a great time for other homeowners to make the switch to high-efficiency appliances with many states introducing customized rebate programs to encourage them to replace their outdated, energy-wasting appliances, in a fashion similar to the auto industry's successful 'Cash for Clunkers' program."

Bosch has established the Bosch Rebate Resource Center to help people learn about all of the government, retailer and Bosch rebates that are currently available.
