James Turley, Chairman and CEO of Ernst & Young, to Speak at OU's Price College of Business


NORMAN, Okla., April 8, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- James Turley, chairman and CEO of Ernst & Young, will be the featured Kanaly Lecture Series speaker on Thursday, April 15, at the University of Oklahoma. A question-and-answer session and reception will follow the lecture, which is set for 10:30 a.m. in the Mary Eddy and Fred Jones Auditorium, Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, 555 Elm Ave. The event is sponsored by OU's Price College of Business.

Turley began his career with Ernst & Young in 1977 in the U.S. firm's Houston office. Over the past 33 years, he has held a number of leadership positions throughout the company, including being named metropolitan New York Area managing partner of Ernst & Young in 1998, deputy chairman in 2000 and chairman and CEO in 2001. Based in New York and London, Turley serves as senior advisory partner for many of Ernst & Young's largest global clients. 

Turley is engaged with many stakeholders as part of Ernst & Young's commitment to enhancing the public's trust in professional services firms and in the quality of financial reporting. He has encouraged dialogue with key stakeholders across the globe regarding the many changes facing the world capital markets, including the advent of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act in the United States, the introduction of International Financial Reporting Standards in more than 100 countries throughout the world, and the overall movement toward greater convergence of global accounting standards and global governance.
