Sterling Commerce Unveils Mobile Applications Strategy: New Access Channel Helps Customers Improve Productivity and Increase Revenue

Company Leverages Customer Input in Extending Its Collaborative Supply Chain Applications and Business Integration Solutions to Mobile Devices

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwire - April 13, 2010) - Sterling Commerce Customer Connection -- Sterling Commerce®, an AT&T Inc (NYSE: T) company, today shared its mobile applications strategy with its customers at Customer Connection 2010. Under the strategy, the company extends the value of its core solutions, Sterling Selling and Fulfillment Suite and Sterling Business Integration Suite, by providing access to them from mobile devices.

To support this effort, the company has created the Collaborate to Innovate program. Under the program, Sterling Commerce is working with customers to define their mobile needs, most valuable use cases and enterprise mobile strategies as a part of its mobile applications development.

"As mobile devices become more ubiquitous, customers are looking for the productivity gains that can be achieved by accessing our solutions from their desktop, the Internet or on mobile devices," said Joel Reed, senior vice president, Product Management and Marketing, for Sterling Commerce. "We are working closely with our customers to find opportunities to innovate and create mobile applications that can be used today, but also will meet the out-of-the-box needs of tomorrow. This year, we already have announced six mobile applications and are demonstrating several prototypes at Customer Connection 2010 that will be delivered later this year."

As Sterling Commerce develops and deploys new mobile applications, the company is looking for ways to provide their customers with an additional access point or deployment choice for improved productivity, or another channel of interaction for growth opportunities. The company has a dedicated mobile applications development team delivering new applications each quarter. Sterling Commerce has selected to develop applications for Apple® iPhone® and iPod Touch®. Initially, the company's development focused on applications delivered in North America. The company has begun development for deployment in Europe and is evaluating options for deployment in other regions.

The company has already introduced two commerce-focused solutions and two supply chain execution solutions to support Sterling Selling and Fulfillment Suite as well as two B2B integration applications to support Sterling Business Integration Suite. These solutions extend the reach of their customers and enable them to better interact with internal and external constituents within their Business Collaboration Network -- the ecosystem of customers, partners and suppliers with whom they do business.
