Compuware Helps SafeAuto Insurance Improve Performance of Critical Customer-Facing Applications, Saving Time and Money

Gomez adVantage Gives SafeAuto Insurance a Unified View of Application Health to Proactively Troubleshoot Performance Issues and Improve Customer Experience

DETROIT, April 14, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq:CPWR) today announced that SafeAuto Insurance, a leading provider of minimum limits insurance coverage, is using Gomez adVantage to improve the application performance of its critical customer-facing applications that span both the enterprise and Internet. With a single, unified view across the entire application delivery chain, SafeAuto now has complete visibility into application health and can proactively identify performance issues and fix them before they impact the business, saving time and money.

SafeAuto provides personal auto insurance on a consumer direct basis exclusively through online and telephone distribution channels in 14 states. The company is committed to providing low cost, state required minimum limits auto policies and has sold more than 4 million policies across the U.S.

To better align with the shopping and buying needs of its customers, SafeAuto implemented an E-Commerce System where customers can get web-based auto insurance quotes and the capability to bind coverage across the web. The system not only serves their external web applications, but also the back-end applications of their four internal call centers, which are used by more than 500 employees to conduct business with customers.

SafeAuto's IT team wanted to ensure that their customers — both external and internal — had a successful customer experience, and that their systems were up and running 24/7, problem-free. They sought a true end-to-end application performance monitoring solution and turned to Compuware's Vantage and Gomez combined solution.

"Gomez adVantage really opened our eyes as to how our internal and external applications were performing," said Jeff Fields, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at SafeAuto. "With a single, end-to-end view of the health of our critical business applications, we can quickly identify and troubleshoot any performance problems — inside and outside the firewall — from an end-user perspective, before they impact our customers. This saves us time and has dramatically improved our customer experience and customer service."

SafeAuto is also starting to use Compuware Vantage for pre-production testing of their infrastructure environments. "Vantage acts as a testing platform to help us catch any performance problems to our infrastructure environments before we roll them out to our production site," said Fields. "This enables us to proactively detect issues that may have been missed during QA testing, providing an extra safety layer of quality to ensure ROI."

In the future, SafeAuto plans to use Vantage to measure the rework of testing in their production environment. According to Fields, this will prevent any long-term application performance issues with their infrastructure, saving them money.
