Telvent Obtains a Level 3 Capability Maturity Model Integration Rating in Its Software Development Centers

The Certification Recognizes Telvent as One of the 5000 Best Companies Worldwide for Developing and Maintenance Software

ROCKVILLE, MD--(Marketwire - April 15, 2010) - Telvent (NASDAQ: TLVT), the IT company for a safe, sustainable world, has announced that it has received a Level 3 CMMI rating (Capability Maturity Model® Integration), in seven of its software development centers. This rating recognizes the company as one of 5000 companies worldwide capable of introducing and developing software processes with international methodologies, procedures and standards.

Telvent has succeeded in obtaining the certification for multiple sites, covering centers in the following Spanish cities: Avila, Segovia, Vigo, Seville and Madrid as well as, Montevideo, Uruguay and São Paulo, Brazil. These centers provide services to more than 50 clients in Spain, the United States and Latin America and have more than 400 employees. Telvent has been developing its activities in accordance with international standards since 2006, which is when the company was granted Level 3 CMMI certification for its first headquarters located in Avila, Spain.

The prestigious CMMI certification is the standard model worldwide for improving development processes and providing maintenance for software systems and products. At the present time, it is internationally considered as one of the most prestigious certifications in the sector. It is granted by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Carnegie Mellon University, and it establishes five maturity levels for software development companies.

The CMMI model provides a series of benefits for clients: the software is more specifically adapted to the company's business strategy, more predictable results are obtained from projects and costs are reduced for software development projects. In addition, it offers greater efficiency in detecting errors, drastically diminishing the number of errors that affect clients and users, and alleviates risks by implementing pro-active management techniques.

According to the Chairman and CEO of Telvent, Manuel Sánchez Ortega, "This certification proves the success of the methodologies and procedures that we have been using and improving since we were granted CMMI accreditation for our first factory four years ago." He adds: "This process is just another step towards our final goal of achieving CMMI Level 5 in the coming year."

High level projects are demanding CMMI accreditation. In addition, accreditation allows the company to improve its positioning in the market and provides useful information when making decisions related to project management and software development.
