IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - April 16, 2010) -  Orange County Business Council (OCBC), the leading voice of business in Orange County, has endorsed Kris Murray for the Anaheim City Council with a unanimous vote of its board of directors. Murray served as OCBC's Vice President of Government Affairs for almost three years and served as a solid advocate of the Business Council's key initiatives to enhance infrastructure investment, increase supply of workforce housing, continue the economic development of Orange County, and promote solid education programs to ensure a skilled 21st century workforce.

She and her family have been long time residents of Anaheim. She has served with distinction representing Anaheim's residents on the Public Utilities Commission and Metropolitan Water District. She has exceptional knowledge of transportation and traffic relief solutions for her city, the county and state.

Kris Murray understands the connection between a strong business environment, sustainable infrastructure and jobs creation. She brings nearly 20 years' experience successfully navigating the state and nation's capitols on behalf of the Orange County business community and regional public agencies. OCBC applauds the leadership Kris Murray has shown in supporting numerous civic organizations and serving on the board for multiple county and regional associations including: Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, Orange County Taxpayers, Southern California Women's Leadership Association, and Southern California Association of Governments.

Throughout her years of service for Orange County, Murray has championed a number of programs, including OCMoves, a public-private initiative led by business leaders, public agencies and elected officials dedicated to improving county and regional infrastructure.

Kris started her career in Washington, D.C. serving as the senior legislative assistant to U.S. Representative Steve Horn (CA-38) who represented the greater Long Beach area in Congress. She served as Congressman Horn's liaison to the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, as well as the Highways and Transit Subcommittee. A highlight of Kris' tenure on Capitol Hill was serving as part of the legislative team that resulted in the authorization of the Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority and the Boeing C-17 program.

Currently, Kris serves in a leadership position at the Orange County Transportation Authority as Executive Director of its Government Relations department overseeing local, state, and federal affairs for the authority. In this capacity, she also serves a dual role as Executive Director of the Orange County Council of Governments, which is now administered by the OCTA.
